New Muppets Show for Magic Kingdom

So this was something I read about this morning, but was originally announced back in July and will take effect in October. There’s a new show coming to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, entitled ‘The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History’. The show will be located in Liberty Square outside the Hall of Presidents attraction, and is set to feature several of the Muppets cast and the town crier of Liberty Square James Jefferson, a new song and a humorous take on moments in American history.

I find this quite interesting, actually. Due to not being American the idea of a patriotic show like the Hall of Presidents never really appealed to me, and as such it’s one of the fast-dwindling number of Disney attractions (particularly WDW attractions) I’ve never done. On the other hand, I love the other Muppets attraction at WDW, Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the Muppets in general were a big part of my childhood, particularly the movies Muppet Treasure Island and The Muppet Christmas Carol, both of which I adore. So what initially to me sounded like a mash-up of the Hall of Presidents with the Muppets actually got me quite intrigued.

From what I understand this is going to take the form more of a spontaneous street show than a sit-down amphitheatre show or proper attraction like the Hall of Presidents, but this in itself opens up a whole host of questions and possibilities. How will the Muppets be represented in real-live form? I’m curious to see how the show turns out, and whether it adds to the flavour of Liberty Square or just creates more congestion in what is already a fairly busy thoroughfare in the Magic Kingdom.

The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History is set to go live this October outside the Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom park. Any thoughts, feedback or reviews of this new attraction? Leave us a comment and let me know!
